作者黄心村，浙江省杭州市人，北京大学中文系文学专业毕业后旅美留学，获加州大学洛杉矶分校东亚语言文化系博士，随后于加州大学伯克莱分校从事博士后研究。1998年起任教于美国威斯康辛大学麦迪逊分校东亚语言文学系，现任中国文学终身教授及东亚研究中心主任，学术论著涉及二十世纪中国文学及视听文化研究。 译者胡静，2005年毕业于北京大学外国语学院英语系，主要翻译作品有：亚历山大•罗伯逊《贪婪：本能，成长与历史》（上海人民出版社，2004）；多米尼克•亚历山大《魔法的历史》（上海人民出版社，2006）、《影像中国》（上海三联书店，2007）。
